Gary Giddins in Conversation with Charles J. Shields and Patricia Bosworth
Gary Giddins will discuss the problems and pleasures of writing about contemporary figures with the authors of two new biographies – Charles J. Shields, whose And So It Goes: Kurt Vonnegut: A Life is forthcoming in November, and Patricia Bosworth, whose Jane Fonda: The Private Life of a Public Woman appeared in September. Shields previously wrote a life of Harper Lee, Mockingbird. Bosworth has written definitive lives of Montgomery Clift and Diane Arbus, a "brief life" of Marlon Brando and the classic memoir of her father, Anything Your Little Heart Desires.
