Founded in 2007 with a gift from the Leon Levy Foundation, the Leon Levy Center for Biography at The Graduate Center, CUNY fosters connections among biographers and promotes dialogue about the art and craft of biography across disciplines and generations.


Meet our Fellows
Each year, Kai Bird, Executive Director of the Leon Levy Center for Biography, announces the resident fellowships at the Graduate Center: the Leon Levy/Alfred P. Sloan Fellow (for a biography of a science figure) and the Dissertation Fellow. Each resident fellow receives a $72,000 grant, research assistance, private writing space, and full access to research facilities.
